New versions of iGadget, iRepo and TuneJack

All of our iPod utility applications have been updated. The most important change is an update in all the applications to work with jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches that are running the 3.0 firmware. The applications with this update include iGadget, iGadget X, iRepo, iRepo X and TuneJack.

iGadget, iGadget X, iRepo and iRepo X have all been updated to now include a \"show only songs not in iTunes\" checkbox on the music transfer plugin. Checking this checkbox caused the application to filter the song list to only show songs that are on the selected iPod but are not in your iTunes library. This feature was added by user request.

iGadget, iGadget X, iRepo, iRepo X and TuneJack now all have a new Support submenu under the Help menu of the application. This submenu includes a number of options that can be useful to make support easier in case you run into an issue and need to contact Purple Ghost support. The items in this menu do not need to be used unless directed to do so by Purple Ghost support.

Another feature requested by users has been added to iGadget X and iRepo X. This feature is already in the Windows versions of these applications. That is, you can now right-click (or control-click with a single button mouse) on the playlist listing of the Playlist Transfer plugin to display a popup menu. This menu contains options to check all the playlists and uncheck all the playlists. This makes it so you now don\'t have to manually check every playlist if you want to transfer them all.

With the release of the prior versions of iGadget, iRepo and TuneJack (Windows versions only) to work with the new iPod touch and iPhone 3.0 firmware, a bug was introduced that could cause errors when used with iPhones and iPod touches running old versions of the firmware.
iGadget, iRepo and TuneJack Updated (Mac and Windows)

With the recent release of iPhone and iPod touch 3.0 firmware by Apple, iTunes stores information on the iPod touch and iPhone differently than it did before. This resulted in iGadget, iRepo and TuneJack (both Mac and Windows versions) to not see songs/movies/etc added to an iPod touch or iPhone running the new 3.0 firmware.

I just released new versions of iGadget, iGadget X, iRepo, iRepo X and TuneJack that work with this new 3.0 firmware on the iPod touch and iPhone.

iGadget, iRepo, iRingtunes and TuneJack updated

All the Windows applications (iGadget, iRepo, iRingtunes and TuneJack) have all had new versions released. The main change in all four of these applications is that they now use a new license system. The old license keys will continue to work. However, if a reinstall is ever required, a checkbox will need to be checked on the License window to enable entering the old style license keys.

If anyone experiences any trouble with the new license system (or any of the other changes) please send an email using the online support form.

Just launched Key Ace

I just launched a new product called Key Ace. It came about because I was looking around for a way to map the function keys on my new Logitech Illuminiated keyboard. Logitech only provides software for Windows for this keyboard. This keyboard has icons on all the function keys that indicate they can be used for various actions like search, open mail, expose, dashboard, eject, iTunes, next track, previous track, play/pause, etc.

I found some software that did what I needed and seemed to work ok. But, one hasn't been updated in a long while and an email to them resulted in no reply. So, I didn't want to rely on that. The other software that worked is still actively being developed but is rather pricey and does a lot more stuff than I needed (like stuff with clipboards, etc). I didn't need all that and was worried that all those features would make it a bit too bloated and I was worried about it interfering with my system too much.

So, I decided to try my own hand at a utility that did exactly what I needed and nothing more. I then figured I should offer this up for others in case any of you find yourselves in the same situation as me. I priced it at a very reasonable $9.99 and you download it without buying and it will run in trial mode for 15 days to see if you like it before buying.

Also, if you find you like it but wish it could do some other useful action, feel free to contact me and let me know what you'd like and if I think it wouldn't be too much work and would be useful to many others, I may go ahead and add that feature.

Thanks,
Mark

The bookmark system has also been revamped to work a bit better.

Also, with this release, there are now two Scry versions. There is now a FREE version and a paid for version. The FREE version is supported by occassionally displaying ads inside the app. Other than that, the two versions are exactly the same.

New releases of iGadget, iRepo and TuneJack (Windows versions)

We just released new versions of iGadget, iRepo and TuneJack. This is only for the Windows versions of these applications.

This update adds a new feature called "Super Rescue Playlist" in iGadget and iRepo and called "Super Rescue Tracks" in TuneJack.

There is something called iTunesDB which is the list of tracks on the device that has been there since the first iPod. This iTunesDB is what iTunes itself continues to use so it knows what tracks are on the device.

But, with the release of iOS 5, iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices now have two "databases" that contain the list of tracks on the device. They still have the iTunesDB which iTunes itself still uses but these device now also have another "Media Library" database. This "Media Library" database is what the device itself uses to know what is on it.

What we have learned is that sometimes the iTunesDB gets corrupted and iTunes no longer sees all the tracks that are actually on the device. And, since our applications were also using this iTunesDB, they also could not see the missing tracks.

But, with these new releases, our applications now also use the new "Media Library" database. So, even if your device has a corrupted iTunesDB and iTunes cannot see all your tracks, our applications can still see those tracks and thus allow you to recover those tracks from your device.

As far as we know, our applications are the only ones that offer this type of feature!
